UC Hastings Academic Replacement Building

UC Hastings Academic Replacement Building

Architect: Skidmore, Owings & Merrill

Working with SOM and Clark Construction, ACLA is designing the landscape for a new 58,000 square-foot academic building for the UC Hastings College of the Law located in San Francisco historic Civic Center District. The state-of-the-art facility will enable UC Hastings to provide a more cohesive campus experience by replacing and consolidating student, faculty, and staff spaces currently located in Snodgrass Hall. The project team will construct classrooms, offices, legal clinics, a conference center, as well as indoor and outdoor student life spaces. The 2nd level exterior quad space is designed to be the main gathering area for the school and a connector between buildings—creating a new heart for the campus. Additional outdoor space is provided on the large upper level roof terrace, where skyline views are protected from the wind. The new entrance from the north further extends the school’s identity into the fabric of the city, helping to revitalize the neighborhood.

The project is designed to achieve LEED® Platinum certification.
