Hayes Valley Roof Garden

San Francisco, CA, 2002

Architect: Maria McVarish

Dynamic planting on this contemporary roof garden balances the industrial aesthetic of a renovated warehouse loft.  The design engages the vocabulary of materials used in the buildings’ interior to create a harmonious extension of the inside space.  A translucent privacy screen and cantilevered canopy protect the garden from sun and wind while light-weight planters display waves of low water use succulents.
